Marina Mabrey is making her Connecticut Sun debut today against the Dallas Wings. She was traded from the Chicago Sky for Rachel Banham and Moriah Jefferson. The Sky also acquired a 2025 first-round draft pick and the right to swap the 2026 first-round pick they acquired from Phoenix. Marina Mabrey is now in a better position to compete for a title and the Sun fulfill their need for 3-point shooting. She’s averaging 14 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The Sun are an organized team offense but have struggled with finding a player outside of Bonner who can create their own shot consistently. Mabrey looks to be the missing piece for Connecticut. The Sun have a championship mindset and one of the best players in the WNBA in Alyssa Thomas. They are 18-6 this season and will take on the Dallas Wings today at 9:30 PM EST.
Satou Sabally will make her highly anticipated return to the WNBA against the Sun. To make space for her and Maddie Siegrist’s returns, the Wings, unfortunately, had to release Odyssey Sims and Monique Billings. When healthy she’s one of the most complete players in the league. Last season Sabally averaged 18.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. She is a point forward who is deadly in transition but can knock down the 3 ball. This will take a lot of the offensive burden from Arike Ogumbowale and Natasha Howard. Expect Ogumbowale and Howard to get easier looks than they have all season. Fresh off of an excellent Olympics where she earned All-Second team, Sabally will provide a much-needed spark to the Wings. They currently have the worst record in the WNBA at 6-19 and will hope to start the second half of the season with a bang against the Sun.
