Player of the Day 06/22/24: Breanna Stewart

Breanna Stewart had one of the most complete games of the season in a 98-88 win over the LA Sparks. Stewart dropped a season-high 33 points, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 6 blocks. The offensive showcase was enough to get her player of the day, the 9 steals and blocks were the icing on the cake. Stewie’s first half wasn’t just good, it was historic. She became the first WNBA player to put up 24 points, 5 assists, 5 blocks, and three steals, in one half.

Tough shot-making is something we’ve come to expect from Stewie. She is now up to 5th on the points-per-game leaderboard with 19 points a game. However, this performance by the reigning MVP highlights how her defensive prowess separates her from the rest of the league. She never gives up on the defensive end, check out this chase-down block:

The Liberty are now 14-3 and Stewie will continue her MVP push like she does every season. If you want to watch more of Stewart and the Liberty, they are back in action on ESPN against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday at noon.
