Bridget Carleton saved the best game of her WNBA career for the Commissioner’s Cup final against the New York Liberty. She spearheaded a second-half comeback, finishing the game with 23 points and going 6-8 from behind the 3-point line. Carleton didn’t allow the Liberty to get back into the game. Her timely steals and three-point rampage were the reasons behind the Lynx lifting the Commissioner’s Cup trophy. She was often smiling from ear to ear, soaking in moments that she won’t forget. Napheesa Collier, MVP of the game agreed with our assessment, trying to give Carleton the award and insisting that she was the most valuable player. The team chemistry of the Lynx is great and this championship shows the rest of the WNBA that they are championship contenders. You can see Carleton’s highlights from the game below.
She deserves a shout-out for the big leap she has taken this year. Unfortunately, the stats from the Commisioner’s Cup final won’t count towards her season averages. Regardless, Carleton is having career highs in points, three-pointers made, three-point percentage, rebounds, steals, and minutes. Her ascension has made the Lynx an elite team that can compete with anyone.
With wins against the Liberty, Aces, and Mercury they have done more than enough to prove that they are one of the best three teams in the league. The Lynx find themselves in first place in the Western Conference and third place overall. If they can continue at this pace Carleton should be considered for the most improved player and as of now I have her in second place behind the Sparks Dearica Hamby.
Carleton and the Lynx will be back in action against the Chicago Sky on Sunday the 29th. Expect to see more success from Bridget Carleton as her confidence continues to surge.
