A’ja Wilson continued her MVP campaign in a win against the Chicago Sky. She had 31 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, helping the Aces cruise to a 95-83 victory on the road. Wilson faced off against fellow South Carolina alumni Camila Cardoso and was too much for her or any of the Sky’s bigs to handle. She got to the free throw line 12 times and went 10-12. A’ja has now scored 25 or more points in the last three games, she is simply the best player in the world. It comes as no surprise that she has the most fan all-star votes. Check out her highlights from the game.
Wilson has so much touch with her mid-range shooting and can seemingly get to the rim at will. If you watch the highlights you will notice that she saved enough buckets for everyone. It didn’t matter if she was matched up against Reese, Cardoso, or Harrison, A’ja was going to score. Wilson has now scored 30 or more points in 5 games this season which has propelled her to the top of the points per game leaderboard and she is also tied for most rebounds per game. She has cemented herself as the favorite to win the MVP award early in the WNBA season.
Her monster performances this season weren’t just a result of increased usage with star point guard Chelsea Gray being out. The return of Gray has rallied the entire team and they have won their last three games. I predicted that the Aces would go undefeated for the rest of the season if Gray stays healthy. You can read more about Gray’s impact in a previous article attached here.
